Spugs vs Grymn
11th May 2006
This battle details a skirmish between the Spugs (commanded by Chris) and the Grymn (commanded by Will).

It was never going to be pretty. The Spugs assaulted a Grymn defensive line and had to wade through a hail of ranged attacks in an attempt to get in close. The Spugs outnumbered the Grymn, but not enough. Even though the Spugs were supported by two Exosuits and a Tripod, the heavy firepower of the Grymn was going to be a telling factor. All of the Spug heavy weapon infantry were utilising Toxcannon's and so had very short range (large teardrop template).

The Spug line advances
Along with two HMG positions, the Grymn had a Chaingun, several Grenade Launchers and a Ferret Light Tank armed with a HMG and an Autocannon. All of the Grymn Heavyu Infantry were equipped with their famous Pulse Rifles and these proved to be very effective.

The Grymn HMG position
The Grymn decided to hold their defensive positions, two Heavy Machine Gun teams were dug into defensive earthworks with supporting infantry strung out between the positions.

Regular Infantry and Jump Spugs
As the Spugs advanced, the Grymn unleashed a hail of munitions. Many Spugs fell, but not before the Tactical Exosuit advanced enough to open fire with twin Shard Cannons. The result was devastating as an entire squad of Grymn Light Infantry were wiped out...

Light and Heavy Infantry
The Spugs continued to advance, all the while taking heavy losses. Even the superb protection of the Heavy Infantry Powered Armour could not save the Spugs from the high volume of shots coming their way.

Swamped in close combat
The Close Combat Grymn used their Jump Packs to leap into combat and almost totally destroy a Regular Infantry unit. A lone Spug remained. A nearby remote Shard Cannon unleased a hail of powerful slugs and somehow managed to kill all of the Grymn without harming the lone Spug, lucky bugger...
The Grymn Sniper got him later...
Running out of Spugs and gaining little ground, the Grymn mopped up the rest and claimed a total victory.
With 2000 points per side, the game was played out in about two hours.
