Spug Conversions
This section deals with some simple conversions to the standard Spug models.
You will need a pin vice (drill), needle file, a modelling knife, cutters and super glue. All of these items must be used with great care.

Comms Spug Conversion
The No Limits Spug army was to have a number of Communication Specialist Drones. To vary their appearance somewhat, a simple conversion was performed on one of the models.
The plan was to have the modified model either facing forwards or to the opposite direction from the original model. The first step was to remove the head. This is actually very easy. Using s sharp scapel/knife, the head can be removed by scoring one side and simply twisting it off! Being alien bugs in the first place, the modeller can get away with all sorts of hacking as the segmented joins of the Spug can be vague.

Head removal
The weapon arm was gently removed at the elbow. A pinning hole was then drilled into the elbow of the weapon forearm and the upper arm. A paperclip pin was bent to 90 degrees and test fitted. The plan was to get the weapon coming back across the body as much as possible without actually touching the chest. Also, the position of the comms device on the other arm did not want to end up being too close to the weapon, this just makes painting more difficult.

Weapon arm pin
Next the head and the top of the torso were drilled to accommodate a small pin. Once the pin was located in the head, it can be used to find the drilling point on the torso by holding the head in the desired position and gently pushing the head into the torso to make a small indentation, this is the drilling point.

Pinning the head
With all the drilling completed, it is time to position the weapon arm. Some trimming of the elbow join may be necessary to get the position you want. As mentioned before, you must be careful not to make positioning the comms arm very difficult.

Positioning the weapon arm
With the weapon arm in position, the comms arm and the head can be attached.

Ready for paint
A very simple conversion results in a really nice pose, much different from the standard model. All it needs now is a lick of paint...
Comms Spug Conversion 2
The standard Comms Spug (SP08) is armed with the lighter weight Shard Carbine as used by the Light Infantry. I wanted to have a Comms Spug in with the regular infantry and so elected to do a simple weapon swap with an SP03 Drone Alpha. Of course I decided to do this after I had started to paint the Comms Spug, but one of the great things about the Spug range is the ease in which the models can be chopped up even after painting!

Alternate Weapon

The finished model
So I decided to do another one as I had more units with Shard Rifles than the smaller Shard Carbines.

...and another one
