Spug Conversions

This section deals with some simple conversions to the standard Spug models.

You will need a pin vice (drill), needle file, a modelling knife, cutters and super glue. All of these items must be used with great care.

Remote Weapons
When the drone with a scanner was released, I had an idea to make a remote Shard Cannon weapon, this was mainly because the Shard Cannon was so big that it may prove difficult to get a trooper to carry one (although I managed that later).

When at the Colours convention, Ground Zero Games had some cool components originally intended for use as anti-grav thingys on 15mm vehicles. Once I saw these I had an idea to upgrade the remote weapon system show above. The original remote weapon used some bits of plastic sprue for the weapon mount and I was never really happy with it...

The new anti-grav bits from Ground Zero Games were about the right size for what I wanted and Jon was selling a pack of four for a couple of pounds.

A bit of plastic sprue was used for the weapon support and this was drilled and pinned for strength and durability. The top of the weapon support was angled to take the heavy weapon and once again drilled to take a paper clip pin.

This was a very quick conversion to make and in no time there was a Shard Cannon and a Laser Cannon version completed.

Then it was decided to try to graft two Missile Launcher pods onto another remote weapon support. This one was more of a fiddle, and the weapon support went through a couple of different design attempts before the finished plastic support arm was settled on.

Missile Launcher Remote Weapon Bits

In the end, a thicker bit of plastic sprue was used which allowed for easier driling and pinning of the two missile launcher pods.

I think I am going to need some more Spugs with scanners to remote control this lot...
