Spug Conversions
This section deals with some simple conversions to the standard Spug models.
You will need a pin vice (drill), needle file, a modelling knife, cutters and super glue. All of these items must be used with great care.

Scout Drone On Riding Beast
One of the advantages to the Spug design is the ease with which the legs and in some cases, the arms may be repositioned. The second generation Spug models (that is models from SP09 onwards) also all have separate heads. It is also easy enough to remove the heads from the earlier models to change their direction if required.
I thought it would be cool to have a scout Drone riding some sort of lizard or insect beast. Drone Trooper SP02 (Spriggan Catalogue Number) was a prime candidate for the job along with the Drone Alpha SP03. Both models have the legs in a easily convertable position and their weapons are held up high enough.
Searching for a suitable mount was easy enough, there were several posibilities in my bits box. One option was to use the plastic Games Workshop Cold One models, another to use one of the Ground Zero Games Bug models (such as SGV-02 or SGV-04). The Blood Reaver mount (once by i-Kore, now by Brigade Models was also prime candidate but more on that later...
In the end I opted for the i-Kore/Urban Mammoth Sandrunner models although they don't appear to be listed on the Urban Mammoth website any more. There were a few in the bits box and they were not going to be used for anything else anyway...

Scout on lizard beast
The saddle had to be trimmed a bit and some of the Spug abdomen was removed to give a decent fit. As a first attempt, this is not bad, but a load more Spugs were mounted on a Blood Reaver.

Scout on lizard beast
Decided to paint the beast light brown to match the terrain, the idea being that the creature would have evolved to blend into the surroundings...
