Living Dead vs Orcs And Goblins
This was a 2000 point per side battle between the Living Dead and an Orc And Goblin Warband. Interestingly, both sides took a single magic user and one unit of mounted warriors. The remainder of the forces were made of infantry units, this would make for a well balanced battle.

Armoured Skeleton warriors engage the Orc Warband
The Living Dead Elite unit of Armoured Skeletons were the largest hard hitting unit lead by a Vampire General. With his excellant close combat skills and his high number of wounds, the Vampire was going to be around for a long time.

Craven Ghouls shamble along a flanking position
The Craven Ghouls were an experimental unit, they had low toughness and no armour, if they were hit in close combat, they would not survive very long. Their main attribute was the fact that they had the Extra Attack (x2) ability, if they could get into a position to charge, they may get a chance to inflict some damage.
| Name | AC | RA | CC | ST | T | W | CO |
| Craven Ghouls | 9 | 3 | 5 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 6 |
 |
| Weapons | None (basic ST attack) |
| Armour | None |
| Special Rules | Extra Attack (x2) |
| Structure | 4+ per unit |
The battle was played out with a river running diagonally through the combat area and a couple of bridges to make crossing slightly easier.

The battle in full flow
The Living Dead Necromancer attempted several times to Summon Fallen warriors to bolster the Zombie and Skeleton units, but each time it failed to find the corpses required. From his position on the hill top, he could survey the battle as it unfolded and bring to bear his arcane knowledge, when ever it worked that is...

Goblin Archers prepare to open fire on advancing skeletons
The Goblin Archers proved to be a very effective unit, especially when shooting at units with no armour protection at all. First a Zombie unit fell to the hail of arrows, then a Skeleton unit foolishly attempted to charge them only to fall short and be cut down by another hails of Goblin shafts. Skeletons do not have a large number of Actions and so their charge range is somewhat limited...

Craven Ghouls sneak up from behind on the Orc Boar Riders
The Craven Ghouls had decided to take a very long flanking route and spent most of the battle being of no use whatsoever. The main reason for this was to protect them from being charged. By the time they made it to the main close combat on the left side, they were just in time to save the last remaining Death Rider from the horde of Orc Boar Riders. Their two attacks were quite effective and they helped to balance the sides in the combat.

Close combat rages between the Armoured Skeletons, the Squigs and the Orc Warband
The last close combat action was a bloddy affair between the Elite Skeleton Guard of the Vampire and a motly bunch of Orcs, Squigs and Sqig herders. The Vampire fought off Orc after Orc and cut a bloody path through the greenskins. As the last Orc fell, all that remained were the unscathed unit of Goblin Archers holding the right flank. Without their large brothers to back them up, they thought it was time to make a strategic withdrawal and leave the spoils to the Vampire and his minions.
