Pure Chaos vs Demon

Two of the newer No Quarter forces faced off in a 1650 point per side battle. This was pretty much all the Demon models available so the forces of Chaos obliged by fielding the same number of points. Tony took command of the Demonic horde and I (Chris) subjected myself to the taint of Chaos...

The Pure Chaos army was commanded by Xandrokhash riding a Dark Unicorn and supported by a unit of Chaos Knights. The Demons were commanded by Azaroth, a huge and powerful winged demon.

The setup, note the Lurkers lurking in the woods and the stone circle...

This was to be a straight forward fight between two of the forces of darkness. The Demonic Lurkers used their infiltrate ability to set up in cover near the Pure Chaos army. With no ranged combat troops on either side, the Chaos army advanced straight ahead to meet the Demonic army. The Lurkers attacked once they had allowed their prey to get closer and although they inflicted some damage, they were quickly overrun by the superior Chaos numbers.

Yellow Terrors charge a unit of Hellbeasts

The small Yellow Terrors attack the Hellbeasts but are all destroyed by the demon hounds.

Chaos Knights attack the mighty demon Azaroth

The Chaos Knights charged the huge Demon, Azaroth. Although their initial charge allowed them to use their Lances, they failed to kill the mighty demon despite the large number of attacks.

Minions advance along a gully

The Minions prepare to support Azaroth

The battle raged between the Chaos Knights and Azaroth. After several rounds of combat, Azaroth fell under the sheer weight of attacks. However, this was not before the number of Knights had been greatly reduced by Azaroths blows.

The Minions gang up on Xandrokhash

Having seen Azaroth fall at the hands of the Chaos Knights, the horde of Demonic Minions charged the Chaos General Xandrokhash and through weight of numbers and the Team Work ability, the mighty Chaos General was killed by the lowest demons...

The First Fallen One makes short work of a Chaos Champion

As the Minions fought against Xandrokhash, the First Fallen One attacked the Chaos Champion. The Champion was no match for the brutal skill of the Fallen One.

Beastmen attack the Pink Terrors

The battle had split into two skirmishes with the centre of the field completely empty of warriors. On one flank, the Minions and a unit of Hellbeast were fighting the Knights and the Chaos Warriors, whilst on the other flank, Beastmen and Hellbeast were confronting Blue and Pink Terrors and the Infernoes.

Chaos Infernoes attack the Beastmen

The Infernoes manged to flank the Beastmen but their very short range flame attack proved to be less than effective. The Beastmen promptly charged the Infernoes and despatched them with ease. Meanwhile, the Blue and Pink Terrors were being overwhelmed by Hellbeasts and the remainder of the Beastmen unit.

The Victorious First Fallen One surveys the battlefield

Once the Chaos Knights had fallen, the only Chaos forces remaining were the Blue and Pink Terrors and these did not last long.

Victory went to the Demonic forces in a very tight game which swung one way and then the other in the early stages.

Thanks to Tony for giving me a good kicking, my second in two days...
