Regency Galleon

The first Regency ship of the line was quite a successful build, the Regancy Frigate turned out pretty good and so it was decided to up the scale and build a galleon for the No Quarter Naval Battles game.

Yet Another Playmobil Toy
This ship was based on the hull and superstructure of a larger Playmobil ship, this sucker has two masts and a raised stern castle. It was a bit bashed up, parts of the masts were missing but that is half the fun, creating something out of nothing, well...maybe not quite nothing, the main shape is there, its just a question of turning it into a model that works in a fantasy wargames setting. Being able to bend the rules of reality always helps, not having to make it an accurate rendition of a sailing ship is a huge benefit!

The plan was to mount five cannons along each side, three in the rear and more firepower on the foredeck, this galleon would have awesome firepower...

It started with a toy...

This time, the first modification undertaken was to waterline the hull so that it would align itself with the frigate and any future models to be built.

Foredeck

The foredeck, just in front of the forward mast was raised to cover some of the raised molding and to allow deck cannon to fire through the openings.

Rear windows and door

Was not going to be interested in having any internal detail so the rear deck windows and door were blocked off using cardboard. Some detail will be added to the door and windows later prior to painting.
