Mantlets Mantlets are a good idea for the castle attackers. Especially useful for archers wishing to stand back from the castle walls and attempt to keep the heads of the defenders well and truely down. These mantlets were constructed using thin balsa sheet cut to approximately 40mm wide by 35mm high. The top edge was then cut to a zig zag shape with a sharp modelling knife.    Mantlet (front and rear) The wheels and supports are plastic and come from the Zvezda siege machines models. The original screens for the Zvezda mantlets were a bit small for my liking, so balsa screens were used. Mantlets in use
