Version Updates

This page summaries the changes made to the No Quarter rules over the previous few versions. This will help you decide if you need to download and print a more up to date copy.

2.4b January 2006 Minor update to infiltaration on page 15.
  • Incorrectly stated the infiltration distance from an enemy should be 8" instead of 10".


2.4a December 2005 Minor update to the undead trait.
  • Added some negatives to the undead ability on page 52.


2.4 March 2005 Minor update, primarily some layout changes.
  • Moved the magic cards to the back of the rules.
  • Introduced a magic summary page.


2.3 January 2005 New abilities and magic update. Mostly due to the release of the new Siege rules (due in March 2005).
  • Very large targets (VLT), castles and buildings.
  • Hitting very large targets (VLT) in close combat (on a D10 roll of 9 or less).
  • Hitting very large targets (VLT) with ranged attacks in line of sight and max range (on a D10 roll of 9 or less).
  • Move and fire ability.
  • Boiler overload for steam powered models.
  • Siege weapon ability for powerful models.
  • Initiate magic users with new casting rules.


2.2 December 2004 Minor update.
  • Movement ability tables (page 22).
  • Moving through friendly models (page 20).
  • Prone models failing a morale test (page 36).
  • Musician adds +1 bonus to command tests (page 21, 35, 66).
  • Removed Army Battle Standard from Command Test table, it is now a re-roll (page 21, 35).


2.1 April 2004 Close Combat Attacks and Morale update.
  • 2.5" blast template cost increased from 7 to 9 points (page 71).
  • Close combat attack abilities are now collectively called special attack modes and may not be allocated to the same model.
  • Poisonous Attack increased from 3 to 4 points.
  • Mighty Strike restricted to individuals and characters only.
  • Changes morale abilities: Great Leader (LOS re-roll, 6 points), Inspiring Leadership (2D10, select one result, 9 points), Proud (ignore first failed command test, 4 points).
  • Army Battle Standard changed to a LOS re-roll with a CO+1 modifier.


2.0a March 2004 Minor update.
  • Removed the Grizzled ability (was the same as Unwavering).
  • Reduced points cost of Proud to 2 points.
  • Upkeep range restriction for spells.


2.0 1st February 2004 Version 2.0 is such a huge update, that if the changes were displayed in blue as previously specified, just about everything would be blue. That is not to say everything has been changed, in most cases certain sections have been reworded to make rules more clear.
  • Points for models with 4+ Wounds adjusted.
  • Rules for Reach weapons added.
  • Expanded Support Weapons rules.
  • Introduced Knocked Prone rules.
  • New Traits section added.
  • New Equipment section added.
  • Relocated some abilities into a new Traits section as they do not count as Abilities.
  • Introduced negative ability / traits.
  • Revised the Undead ability.
  • Added Unwavering, Unerring abilities.
  • Added Devour and Hesitate traits.
  • Amended Steadfast ability (and points) to include immune to knock prone rules.
  • Amended Brutes ability (and points).
  • Sample model profiles added.
  • Added Upkeep cost to the Earth Spell, Quicksand.
  • Added a Medium sized teardrop template. Adjusted the widths of the large and small teardrop templates.
  • Introduced new blast templates in half inch increments from half inch to 3 inches.

  • Growler Army List - Replaced Fear with Unerring, added Leap to some Individuals.
  • Living Dead Army List - Revised points costs, revised Undead rules, new units added.

  • Added new rules for combined models (to allow mounted dragons and chariots).

  • Reduced the points cost of a few ranged weapons.
  • Increased the font size of the Use Cost and Level on the magic cards.
  • Added clarification of the AC required to stand up from prone (3 AC if you are wondering).
  • The Mighty Strike ability is limited to Characters, Individuals and Elite models.
